MANILA, Philippines – The stage is set for the Philippine Airlines (PAL) Interclub, the country’s longest running amateur golf tournament, which will take place in Cagayan de Oro on February 16 to 26.
Dubbed as “The Heat Is On,” the annual event will be participated by a record 167 teams. The attendance is 12 more than the previous high of 155 teams in last year’s event in Bacolod.
The PAL Interclub will begin with the seniors division, where 89 clubs will be participating.
Eight new entries from overseas namely, Las Vegas, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Honolulu, Vancouver, Guam, Saipan and Tokyo, will also join.
Defending champion Luisita is expected to field the winning crew that finished club Canlubang's 4-year reign last year.

The regular Interclub event will take place from February 23 to 26.
The Interclub event will be participated by at least 78 teams.
Among these teams are 31 international contenders including newcomers from Nevada, Los Angeles, Dubai, Tokyo and Nagoya.
Reinstated teams from Sydney, San Francisco and Washington, D.C. will also make a comeback in the division.
Multi-titled Canlubang will defend its Interclub division crown. Joining the battle is 2010 runner-up The Country Club, and former champions Manila Southwoods and Del Monte.
The 64th PAL Interclub will be jointly played in Cagayan de Oro City's premier golf courses: Pueblo de Oro Golf and Country Club.
