Power Interruption GUIDE in the CEPALCO Area

Relative to the continuing power supply curtailments imposed by the  National Grid Corporation of the Philippines [NGCP] all over Mindanao, CEPALCO has again scheduled rotating brownouts within its service area lasting for about 2 hours and 30 minutes per area.  According to NGCP, the power supply shortage is due to the maintenance outage of NPC’s Pulangi 4 [Unit 1]  and Agus 6 [Unit 1] hydro electric plants; non- operation  of Therma Marine’s two power barges and reduced capabilities of some other NPC hydro plants.

Please find below the load shedding schedule / guide [2 hours & 30 minutes DAILY rotating brownouts] within the CEPALCO service area [none on Saturdays & Sundays]. Again, CEPALCO would like to caution customers that the actual switch off and switch on time may vary from the announced schedule depending on the actual load curtailment levels imposed by NGCP on CEPALCO on a day to day basis.

Starbucks CdO Brewing Soon

Starbucks Brewing Soon

The most awaited coffee shop tarpaulin is now displayed onsite. Starbucks is definitely opening anytime in the next few weeks.

Albeit the design is somewhat different from the usual Starbucks branches, this one at Limketkai is very much similar to the newly opened Starbucks Naga, perhaps a new store design for the new decade. I don’t know if the white exterior painting is final but work is now focused on the interiors.

Starbucks Cagayan de Oro, the company’s 166th store in the country will open its first Mindanao branch this coming September (October, due to some delay).

According to news reports, Ma-AnnRabino,recruitment specialist of Rustan Coffee Corporation, owner of Starbucks franchise in the country. was quoted as stating that the store will be located at Limketkai Center.

The local Starbucks will incorporate environment-friendly interior design and would use recycled construction materials with construction cost estimated to be at around P11 million with Wi-Fi and other amenities.

Accordingly, Starbucks decided to pick Cagayan de Oro for its first Mindanao branch because of its potentials as Mindanao’s convention capital, and the growing number of tourists flocking to the city.

Avon | Step Out - Walk/ Run

Thousands of women succumb to breast cancer every year, and it remains to be the number one killer of Filipino women. Anyone can be the victim of the disease – mothers, daughters, sisters, friends, even men, regardless of age, social or economic status. This makes breast cancer and the fight against it, our responsibility.

Avon, the foremost corporate advocate of women’s health, launched the multifaceted awareness and fundraising initiative dubbed Kiss Goodbye to Breast Cancer (KGBC) here in the country in 2002 to provide care, treatment and support to medically under-served women.

Through KGBC Walk Events and fundraising products, Avon was able to help establish the Breast Care Center at the Philippine General Hospital (PGH) and successfully fund the treatment of indigents, initiate support groups for sufferers and survivors, and provide much-needed equipment to provincial government hospitals.

For 2010, the company for women calls on everyone to Step Out! Against Breast Cancer. Supporters will not only walk, they will also run to renew their commitment to the cause.

How far should we go to put an end to this deadly disease? As far as it takes. After all, there is no running or walking away from breast cancer, only stepping out as an entire nation to fight it.
