2nd National Milo Little Olympics in Cagayan de Oro City


The Milo Organizer for Mindanao, Mr. Megdonio Llamera is optimistic that the hosting of the 2nd National Milo Little Olympics in Cagayan de Oro City, Misamis Oriental will turn out to be a phenomenal success that will meet and surpass the expectation of the delegations and will surely mark another milestone in the history of sports at the Don Gregorio Pelaez Sports Complex on October 15 – 17, 2010.

In a Special Meeting held recently, Mr. Llamera together with the 12 technical experts and working committees presided and ironed out things putting these into final stage for appropriate action. Prior to the Opening Program and Ceremony, a playground demonstration will be done to be performed by the students of Misamis Oriental General Comprehensive High School (MOGCHS ) showcasing rhythmic and calisthenics number to be followed by an athletic parade of 4 contingents together with the cadets of Capitol University and MOGCHS within the oval of the sports complex.

He further announced that Liceo de Cagayan University Choir and Provincial Capitol Chorale will render the Invocation and National Anthem respectively. The ceremony will be highlighted with the formal turning over of the Torch from Cebu Governor Wendy Garcia to Misamis Oriental Governor Oscar S. Moreno. Vice Governor Morris Babiera will give the words of welcome for Misamis Oriental and Mayor Vicente Y. Emano for the City of Cagayan de Oro.

The keynote speaker of the 2nd National Milo Little Olympics is Mr. John Miller, CEO of Nestle Philippines, Inc.

The formal and official declaration of the 2nd National Milo Little Olympics will de done by the 2nd Vice Chair National Execom, Dr. Luz S. Almeda Regional Director of the Department of Education (DepEd) Region X.

All Set for 2nd National Milo Little Olympics

To provide mode and official declaration of welcoming the guest and spectators, a cultural presentation will be done depicting the culture of Northern Mindanao dubbed as SILIP SAYAW SA MINDANAO performed by public and private schools in the city which will be followed by a spectacular and enticing fireworks display that ends up the opening ceremony.

Meanwhile, with a few days to go before the opening ceremonies, sports center manager, Mr. Oscar Cinco declared the Don Gregorio Pelaez Sports Complex is 100% ready for use on this national sports event.

Near one thousand five hundred delegates coming from NCR, Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao will be arriving on October 13, 2010 to actively participate in the 2 day – sports competition.

Mr. Megdonio Llamera disclosed that the delegates will be billeted in pension houses and hotels in the city, making their stay in the city of Golden Friendship comfortable and will experience the Northern Mindanao Hospitality.

The Delegates from the NCR will be staying in the Budgetel at Corrales Street and Marigold Hotel at Velez Street, Luzon will be staying in De Luxe Hotel at Cogon, Visayas at Country Village Hotel at Carmen, while Mindanao will be staying in Gardenia Guest House at Macasandig, this City.

According to the Chairman of the Peace and Order Committee P/Supt. Antonio Montalba, the stay of the delegates in Cagayan de Oro City is assured safe and secured. The City Police Office will be conducting a 24/7 surveillance in and out the vicinity of the pension houses and hotels.(PR)
